Zebrablinds, an online Window treatment store, launched the Home Picture Contest on Sunday, May 12th, 2013. Winners can get a $1000 gift card that is applicable to any Zebrablinds window treatment purchase. The contest runs weekly until July 28th, 2013. A winner will be chosen every week from collection of home pictures submitted via Facebook. The deadline for the first week of the contest, 12:00 pm PST Sunday, May 19th, 2013 is fast approaching.

Anyone and everyone who resides in the U.S and is 18 years of age or older can make submissions to the contest. Only one submission per person is allowed. No purchase is necessary for making a submission. The submission must feature a window treatment of brands approved within the contest rules. The following are the brands of window treatments approved : Graber, Comfortex, Norman, Insolroll, or Crown. Contestants are encouraged to write a short caption to be included with their picture. To vote for picture submissions, anyone with a minimum of 25 friends on Facebook can vote. The submission will be available on Facebook, so it will be as easy one click to vote. Contestants who qualify as voters can also vote.

NEFA Awards Native Arts Grants across New England

The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) has awarded $40,000 through two initiatives of its Native Arts program, which supports Native American artists and Native-led nonprofit organizations through grantmaking and network development.

Four artists have received the first round of NEFAs Native Arts Master Apprenticeship grants, which were launched with lead funding from the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation. Grants of up to $5,000 pair experienced master artists with apprentices for up to one year, establishing focused learning experiences that nurture the continued vitality of Native art forms in New England. These grants will allow for a deeper artist/mentor relationship, said Native Arts program manager Dawn Spears (Narragansett/Choctaw). The artists benefit from the direct support, and communities benefit from the increased knowledge shared within the community.

In addition to the Master Apprenticeship grants, seven artists received Native Arts New England grants of up to $3,000. These grants support projects that involve or benefit the community, and address preservation of native arts and cultural traditions, contemporary native arts, and training and technical assistance that will support the artists work.
