Wine and Design Announces Opening of Newest South Carolina Studio in Columbia

Building on its current success and popularity, Wine and Design has announced the opening of its newest franchise location in the Forest Acres area of Columbia. The company is owned and operated by Natasha Lorick and is on the second floor of Richland Mall located at 3400 Forest Drive.

Columbia is the state capital and largest city in South Carolina. Columbia was the second planned city in the United States and received its first charter as a town in 1805. The city has embraced the arts with its theatres, galleries, dance companies, orchestra, art schools, outdoor art, and murals and is further enriched by the artists who have chosen to call Columbia home. Lorick hopes that her new wine and painting party studio will add to an already rich and diverse art culture that enriches the community and attracts visitors from across the state.

The City of Columbia has really shown an interest in establishing a greater presence for the Arts and Culture for its citizens, said Lorick. I think people in Columbia are always looking for fun and innovative activities for both adults and children.

Lorick is a graduate of Winthrop University where she earned a degree in Political Science and a minor in Business Management. She worked in the insurance industry for 15 years and opened Wine and Design as a part-time business in June 2012. Corporate staffing changes led to Loricks decision to operate the company on a full-time basis and to build on her current clientele. Lorick said that Wine and Designs proven success and corporate culture convinced her to open a franchise of her own.

I wanted to be a part of a network that already had a customer base, a set of values that were in line with my own, and most importantly, knew where they wanted to go in the future, said Lorick. I also liked the fact that the franchises were owned by women who were also trying to find a balance between being a business woman and raising children. I knew that kind of support system would definitely be an asset.

Wine and Design is a popular business that began in Raleigh, NC in April 2010. The South Carolina franchise is headed by Heather Speizman who, in just one year, oversees operations in Mount Pleasant, Myrtle Beach, Greenville, and West Ashley, in addition to Columbia. Wine and Design offers clients an easy and fun approach to painting. The company provides the canvas, cover up, paints, paintbrushes, and corkscrew and attendees provide a beverage of his or her choosing. First-time painters, aspiring artists, or self-proclaimed pros browse the studios website to find a painting they would like to replicate. Sessions are led by local artists that guide participants through a carefully-orchestrated, step-by-step process that promises a finished masterpiece at the end of the two-hour session. Painting classes begin at $35. Lorick says that first-time painters shouldnt be intimidated or overwhelmed by the prospect of creating a painting on their own.

Our main objective is to provide fun art entertainment for the next two hours while allowing customers to participate in a new form of creative expression, said Lorick. We actually love it when we get first-timers [painters] because of their reaction at the end of class. Most are amazed to see what they were able to create from a blank canvas.

Wine and Design Columbia is planning to mirror the format of its parent studio by offering date nights, paint your house and paint your pet nights, and booking private parties. The studio also plans to be very active within the community by hosting fundraisers and its Paint It Forward program where the studio gives back to the community every month. Lorick added that she will also be adding several regional paintings that celebrate the area including paintings of the Capital Building, Gervais Street Bridge, the Columbia skyline, as well as University of South Carolina-themed paintings.

In addition to adult classes, Wine and Design Columbia also offers Art BUZZ Kids classes which are tailored to children and young adults. The studio offers their famous Art BUZZ Kids Camp, special painting classes, and hosts birthday parties. The studio is open Monday through Sunday from 9:00 am. to 9:00 pm. and is currently accepting reservations for April painting sessions. For additional information, call (803) 661-9015.

Wine and Design accepts general reservations, but also books private parties. Rolling Stones Tickets: Rolling Stones Tickets at Wells Fargo Center Philadelphia, TD Garden Boston, Honda Center Anaheim, and Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sale 4/15

The Rolling Stones continues its 50 and Counting Concert Tour, with dates in the United Kingdom and the United States. The tour also added an additional concert for Philadelphia which will also be at the Wells Fargo Center. Tickets go on sale starting Monday, April 15th for concerts in Philadelphia, Boston, Anaheim and Los Angeles.

The Stones have been performing together for the past 50 years, and the concert tour is a celebration with fans. They may not be as spry and lively as before, but they still have the moves and they can still make the audience sing, dance and jump about.

The United States leg is an extension of the original 2012 sold-out concerts in the United Kingdom and in New York. The Stones performed five concerts with various special guests. The band was nominated for the 2013 Brit Award for Bet Live Act. They have also recently announced that they would be performing at Hyde Park. The tickets for the Hyde Park concert sold out in five minutes. Their upcoming Hyde Park concert is an anniversary celebration of their historic 1969 concert where 250,000 were in attendance. This time, the Hyde Park concert will not be free, tickets start at 95 each.

There are so few groups which can boast of fifty years of working together. Even among that elite group, fewer still can boast of going on tour and adding playdates as they go along. The Stones's schedule so far allows them to rest and recuperate between shows. It also allow The Stones's to add more shows depending on the fan reaction. The second Philadelphia show is a reaction to the strong fan demand for this once in a lifetime experience.

2013 has brought a lot of things courtesy of the Rolling Stones. For one, they have former band members jamming with them on stage. They will also be headlining Glastonbury the week before they play Hyde Park. On top of all that, the band will also be playing a second night at Philadelphia, which underlines the importance of the city to these classic rockers.

Qianlong Starry Glass Mountain Sets Record at Kaminski's March Fine Asian Art and Antique Auction

Prices for exciting and rare glass, ivory, bronze, and ceramic items soared above their high estimates at the March 30th day long Fine Asian Art and Antiques Auction at Kaminski.

The top lot of the day brought in phone and online bidders from around the world for competitive bidding. The auction hall audience and staff watched as the bidding for Lot 4236, a carved starry glass mountain, climbed well above the original estimate of $12,000 to finally settle at a record-setting $65,520. The glass mountain with a Qianlong mark was carved in the form of three rams on a rocky outcrop and set on a huanghuali wood stand. It came to Kaminski Auctions from the collection of a Boston College Professor, and stood only 6 inches tall.

Despite the small scale of the mountain, the piece carries great historical significance and auspicious meaning. Starry glass, was a form of glass making newly developed in the eighteenth century, when artists added gold dust to give the glass its entrancing shimmer. Research done prior to the sale at Kaminski Auctions indicates that only one other starry glass mountain in this form has been sold at auction. The three rams that surround the mountain are known as sanyang and indicate that the New Year will bring a change of fortune.

A pair of monumental elephant tusks that became a focal point of the Kaminski gallery in the weeks leading up to the sale also garnered significant bidding attention. The tusks, complete with original documentation of their legal capture, towered above visitors at seven feet three inches tall, and each weighed over 100 pounds. The pair, after much competition, sold for $54,990.

A pair of equally large and impressive sixty-six inch tall huanghuali lanterns was also among the top lots of the sale. The pair of lanterns came from the Qing Dynasty and featured intricate carvings of clouds, monkeys, dragons, and coins, and sold for $25,740.

Kaminskis sale also featured two high selling rhinoceros horn items. Lot 4378 included an antique pair of rhinoceros horns mounted in sterling silver that sold for $32,400. A pair of rhinoceros horn inkwells also sold well, fetching $13,200.

A beautiful pair of bronze vessels in the form of decorated elephants carrying vases on their backs also captured the interest of the audience. The Qing Dynasty pieces sold to an internet bidder for $25,200. A thangka from eighteenth or nineteenth century Tibet also sold above estimate at $19,890. The finely painted cloth featured the Shakyamuni Buddha in the center surrounded by guardians and Luohan.

Fine Asian furnishings also performed well. A pair of zitan chairs with distinctive cut out designs and back slat panels with intricately carved flowers fetched $17,000. Another pair of chairs, with horseshoe shaped woven seats and floral carved back panels, sold for $9,500.

With the closure of this record setting Asian sale, Kaminski Auctions looks forward to its next Fine Asian Arts and Antiques Auction, to be held on June 22, 2013.

Creating Unique Birth Announcements… Easy as 1, 2, 3

New parents give a lot of thought into creating the perfect birth announcement. They want one that will be cherished by family and friends for years to come, and hold that prominent spot in the baby book.

There are so many choices that exist for birth announcements from the modern to the traditional and everything in between that it can get overwhelming whether you are a newbie parent or a seasoned one. No matter if it is pink or blue (or gender neutral), one picture or multiple ones to show off the precious little bundle of joy, the birth announcement possibilities just seem endless.

Now PhotoAffections makes the process a lot easier!

Here are a few tips and tricks to help you create a birth announcement masterpiece. Remember, anyone can do them and even on a budget (and a timeline). There are a few factors that you must decide on before the fun can begin, such as: size, price and overall color scheme. Pick a design that suits your style, personalize it with a message and/or add a sentimental closing.

One photo or multiple photos?

While one photo takes center stage it's nice to include more photos for variety, and to show off that tiny little being. Start with the basics and necessary items to include on the announcement.

Make sure the name is prominent!

You've consulted the baby name books as if they were the Bible and now you get to announce the name to the world. Don't let the other items to note on the announcement including the date and time born, weight and length, drown out what is most important.

Choosing introductory words.

Opening with, "Welcomed By," to "Proud Parents," or "Welcomed With Love," are just a few that you could use. Just remember there is no right or wrong way to do this, it all comes down to your choice of design and style. What a great way to welcome the baby into the family! You'll be sure to receive many compliments from your little one's birth announcement from friends and family. It is one thing to complete the design of the birth announcement online but it will look even more beautiful when PhotoAffections ships it off, and you receive it in person. Happy designing!

Hit Off Broadway Play Accidental Pervert Announces New Run in Panama

With an ongoing 4-year run in New York City and a successful run last year in Buenos Aires, Argentina, The Accidental Pervert will begin a new production this April in Panama City, Panama.

The Accidental Pervert tells the hilarious story of an 11-year-old boy who finds his Dad's adult video collection. The play takes the audience on a real-life adventure through one boy's distorted views of sex and love, until he meets his wife and ultimately becomes a father himself.

The play will run in Panama City at the famed La Quadra Theatre, considered by many to be Panamas finest theater, and will be performed by Panamanian star Aaron Zebede.

Directed by Charles Messina, actor/playwright Andrew Goffman performs his play Off Broadway on Friday and Saturday nights in NYC. Both are excited about the opportunity to further expand the show and reach new international audiences.

Yes, this is great news. Aaron Zebede will play me, and I'm really excited to see what he'll do with the role since he's such a great performer, says Goffman. It will be nice seeing someone else play the part, since I have been playing with myself for so long!"

Spoken like a true Pervert!

Zebede, one of Panamas most renowned actors, has received three national awards for his theater roles and promises to bring the energy and comedy of The Accidental Pervert to new audiences in Panama.

What made me want to perform The Accidental Pervert was at first the challenge about doing a one-person show for the first time, Zebede says. Then I read the script and I realized ... this is the story of my life!

Goffman said he was glad to find another actor who can relate so well to his story.

His experience growing up and finding his Dad's pornography was very similar to what happened to me as a boy, Goffman said. Many people come up to me after my show and say, Dude, that was my story up there you were telling.

This is the second international release of The Accidental Pervert. The play recently concluded a successful run in Buenos Aires, where it played to rave reviews and sold-out theaters.

Im equally thrilled about the opportunity in Panama, Goffman says. We have a first-class theater and one of the best-known actors in Panama.

Zebede has written his own adaptation in Spanish to include places and people in Panama who affected my life as others did in Andrew's. Once we changed that, everything else fell into place.

New York has been a really successful starting point for The Accidental Pervert, but we're seeing a lot more interest in international productions, says Goffman. We're perverting the whole world, one nation at a time.

If you want to see what all the buzz is about, you can find Goffman and his hit show, The Accidental Pervert, on Friday and Saturday nights at the 13th Street Repertory Theatre. Purchase tickets online or call 212-352-3101.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Accidental Pervert is a laugh-filled show with a serious underlying theme. For three years, Andrew has been entertaining sold out crowds with the story of what happened after he found his Dads stash of adult videotapes when he was eleven years old. He takes the audience on a comic journey through his porn-influenced eyes, to reveal how his exposure to pornography overshadowed his relationships with women for many years, until he finally became a loving husband and father.
The play is also running in Buenos Aires, with additional runs planned for Panama and other points north, south, east and west of New York City and wherever Perverts are found!
The show is directed by Charles Messina.
