L. Ron Hubbard's Writers and Illustrators of the Future contest winners come from a variety of backgrounds and ages in 2013

This quarter's contest winners, upon analysis of all entries are just as diverse as any previous quarter of the contest, with a chemistry teacher from California, a housewife from Colorado, a real estate agent from Wisconsin and three art students in illustration, and they range in age from 17 years to 54 years of age. This simply proves the point, anyone with writing talent can enter and win.

This vehicle for supporting budding authors is the free-to-enter global contest called L. Ron Hubbard's Writers of the Future, now in its 30th year. Created by best-selling author L. Ron Hubbard, the merit-based Writers of the Future Contest was initiated to discover and encourage talented beginning writers of science fiction and fantasy. Quarterly winners of the Contest appear in the best-selling annual anthology, receive cash prizes, and attend an all-expenses paid gala awards ceremony and writing workshop. A sister contest, Illustrators of the Future was formed five years later and gives the same career launch for new illustrators.

Contest judge and lead workshop instructor for the writers contest and author of On Stranger Tides, Tim Powers, says to winners every year "don't quit your day job. Keep at it whenever you can, and your passion for writing will guide you through, evenings, weekends, whenever you can."

Cliff Nielsen, the illustrator lead workshop instructor for the illustrators side of the contest says something similar to his workshop. "Try to get a job in any aspect of the field of arts when you are starting out. You then won't get disassociated with the field while you hone your craft and send out your work."

DFW Elite Toy Museum Hosts Pre Grand Opening Party for Salesman Sample Exhibit to Help Dog Rescue

On Tuesday July 16, DFW Elite Toy Museum will hold a Grand Opening party to unveil its latest exhibit of Salesman Samples, featuring a working demonstrator model of a late 19th century Adams Road Grader that was appraised on an episode of Antiques Road Show as well as many other antique sales presentation models and patent models.

"Very often salesman samples were used to demonstrate large-scale equipment that it was not easy to transport," said DFW Museum owner Ron Sturgeon. "Imagine trying to explain a folding attic stair or show prospects how a hay baler or road grader works without a working scale model," said Sturgeon.

"We are very lucky to have had the chance to acquire the Adams Road Grader sample with its case shortly after it was on Antiques Road Show," said Rodney Ross, museum curator. "It is a spectacular model in near mint condition that has appraised over ten thousand dollars."

The event will be on Tuesday, July 16 from 530-8:30 pm at DFW Elite Toy Museum, 5940 Eden Drive in Fort Worth and dress is casual. The event is a fundraiser for Cavalier Rescue, and guests will be asked to make a $10 donation at the door to help fund this breed-specific dog rescue.

DFW Elite Toy Museum has a 300-piece collection of antique toys, rare scale models, and one-of-a-kind auto memorabilia. The museum is pet-friendly, public, and admission is free. The exhibit will run through August 31.

"Anyone who visits DFW Elite Toy Museum will notice two things: Ron's love of cars and his love of dogs," Ross said. "We're excited about the event and hoping for a great turnout to help a worthy cause."

Atlanta Fine Artist Corey Barksdale Creates A Striking Mural Painting That Captures a Multi-Cultural Environment for the International Community School

You know what makes a child so extraordinary? Everything. Every face has a worldview. The same holds true for art in any form. The bold wisdom found in graphic street art is a sublime method in which to bring this beauty into the public domain. Atlanta artist Corey Barksdale presents his craft, while breathing confidence into the pure, raw essentials of youthful visions. There is a striking silence and rich drumbeat found in this dynamic creative expression. The smallest details show the supreme skill and style through the core of the mural. Filled with strokes and spheres fusing the imagination and the cooperation of possibilities.

The symbiotic passage of light through the visage illuminates a beam effect that seems to gild the center of a soul. Humanity in a symbolic gathering filled with a confident color wheel cast upon brick and mortar. This palette's design is redolent. It presents a central cast upon a borderless canvas depicting a scene of important aspects of existence and invites every child to join together in the crusade to safeguard growth through their hearts and minds. Change begins with their stories.

Barksdale applies a detailed multi-dimensional technique filled with soulful steps. It is aesthetic, as well as communal. The background is an inherent quality of the work. The intricately arranged patterns form an honorable freedom within an appealing blend. There is a social commentary in terms of placement, which enhances the school's vision of advancing the assurance of common understanding. The proportions imply varied stories that we can imagine from one's journey. At its center, the faces are filled with the wholesome essentials of an authentic investment in the community's future.

We are invited in with colorful originality, as the atmosphere eternally links us. I believe the visual impact commands a presence projecting the school's vision by defining an unbiased path for all children who walk through the doors. The placement of images endorses the sentiment that as long as we hold our heads up, we can see a better future. A unique opportunity to expand our own register of ideas.

The images come to life on Barksdale's mural because there is still so much to learn. A great reminder presented, in that art should be a totally normal extension of our lives. An authentic investment in the community symbolizes stability and invokes the creative minds for all generations. The brilliant strokes center upon persistence and endurance. This welcome sign lets the children know that we see them, we hear them and we honor their presence.

There is a curious, inspirational imagination bigger than us. Bright-eyed faces engaging with the merits found inside the fabric of the school reflecting a one to one relationship between the artist and the observer. The gallant piece encapsulates the belief in allowing everyone to be more essential, more personal, and more unique because it only takes one spark to make a difference within a village of people.

The artist's execution celebrates understanding and projects the courageous, vibrant call found within our spirits. Mural art is an open-ended interpretation of authenticity. Convergence is key, in art and in people. Social truth continues to unfold through the gentle care, love and strength of Mother Earth and her inhabitants.

The Singers' Cabaret Workshop: Develop Your Cabaret Persona

What does it take to be a cabaret artiste?
The Singers' Cabaret Workshop develops singers' cabaret skills

Campaigns for cabaret to be recognised as a genre began in 2006, spearheaded by artists Paul L Martin, Sarah-Louise Young, Dusty Limits and Time Out journalists Simone Baird and Ben Walters. In 2012, Frisky and Mannish led Cabariot, a movement sparked by Gary Barlow's use of "too cabaret" as a derogatory comment on the X Factor.

So what is cabaret and what are its demands on the performer?

The Singers' Cabaret Workshop, taught by founder of the London Cabaret Awards Paul L Martin and vocal coach Jamie Anderson, runs from the 20th to 30th of August 2013. Designed for professional singers, the course develops each participant's cabaret persona to help them conquer the hazardous stages of the cabaret circuit.

The Singers' Cabaret Workshop is a two-week course run by leading cabaret artistes Paul L Martin (founder of the London Cabaret Awards and Excess All Areas entertainment agency) and Jamie Anderson (vocal coach at Musical Theatre Academy; vocal director of 1916 - The Musical)

Acclaimed performer and writer Sarah-Louise Young (guest soprano in Fascinating Ada; award-winning creator of Cabaret Whore! and Cabaret Whore Encore!) will teach a guest workshop in clowning

The only course of its kind in the UK, the Singers' Cabaret Workshop is a unique opportunity to be mentored by top UK cabaret practitioners to craft a totally individual cabaret set and persona. The course culminates in a showcase performance for invited industry professionals offering the rare opportunity for participants to demonstrate their newly-developed skills in front of leading professionals in the cabaret field.

The Singers' Cabaret Workshop will take place at The Poor School (242 Pentonville Rd, London N1 9JY) and the industry showcase will take place on Friday 30 August at historic cabaret venue The Pheasantry (152 Kings Road, London, SW3 4UT).

BrightSpring Announces New Non-Stick Silicone Baking Mat

Exactly what do you hate about baking? Burnt edges, fiddly parchment paper, scrubbing your pans?

Exactly what do you LOVE about baking? Stunning scents filling your house, the joy of seeing your kids faces light up at the sight of fresh-baked cookies, the fulfillment of honest home-made food?

A BrightSpring silicone baking mat will allow you to enjoy all the pleasures satisfactions of cooking without the inconvenience.

The robust silicone-coated fiberglass design means it can be utilized again and again, making it far more economical than parchment paper. The non-stick surface enables food to slide off easily and when you are done, just wipe it clean with soapy water.

According to a BrightSpring representative, "Silicone is quickly becoming an essential kitchen area necessity. While conventional non-stick may appear good enough, it can be harmed quickly and is never quite as non-stick as you think! We have all been left sweating over burnt-on grease that you just cannot scrub or soak off your favored pan. The silicone-coated fiberglass design of the BrightSpring baking mat makes it resilient, flexible and completely multi-functional".

And a silicone baking mat isn't just kind to your wallet; it's good to your heart too. As there is no need to grease pans, you can leave all that oil out of your dish creating healthier eating without compromising on flavor.

Obviously, cookies are not the only thing that these mats can be used for. The mat is safe for freezing, microwaves and toaster ovens as well as your conventional oven. Cook any sweet or savory dish on it, make candy on it, or knead dough on it.

"It makes baking simple. The BrightSpring baking mat is not just another meaningless kitchen gadget, when you have one you'll quickly wonder how you ever survived without it. It'll become a household essential" In fact, BrightSpring is convinced that this product will quickly become a staple item in practically everybody's household.

A company representative states that "The BrightSpring baking mat is ideal for so much more than baking cookies. Forget flouring surfaces, forget fiddly parchment paper. Forget all that dull washing up!".

Baking is a true art to those who enjoy it, however sadly that art can come with all kinds of headaches that you 'd rather forget when you are in your element in the kitchen. BrightSprings non-stick baking mat will help baking to truly become a family affair once again, with everybody looking forward to coming home to the smell of fresh cookies.

BALAM Dance Theatre to Perform Ramayana: Kecak for the Catskill Mountains in Hunter, New York Residency

BALAM Dance Theatre (BALAM) will present Ramayana: Kecak for the Catskill Mountains in the Mountain Top Summer Residency Performance, a summer enrichment program presented by the Catskill Mountain Foundation in Hunter, New York from July 1-12. BALAM, a New York City-based ensemble dance company, will offer a workshop inspired by the Balinese Kecak, the monkey chant, for children from the communities of Hunter and Tannersville, New York.

The culmination of the company's residency will be a performance with the children in vibrant costumes of BALAM's signature work, Ramayana: Abduction of Sita, on Friday, July 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hunter Elementary School in Hunter, New York. The performance is free and open to the public. BALAM's residency is supported in part by the Puffin Foundation Ltd. and the Catskill Mountain Foundation.

A highlight of the performance will be the children's Kecak, a vocal chorus of accented sounds that emulate the polyrhythmic layers of gamelan music associated with Balinese dance and the beloved character Hanuman, the monkey king. The children will also create and perform other fantasy masked animal characters in the production.

BALAM will present an eight-day Balinese dance and vocal workshop inspired by the Balinese Kecak. Thirty elementary school children will receive lessons drawn upon stories from the Hindu epic Ramayana and be introduced to a daily warm-up based on karate katas, Balinese dance, vocal chants and their supporting body movements, and Balinese mask work. Throughout the workshop, the New York State Board of Education's arts guidelines will be followed, and the children will create their own choreographic segments.

New Wakasa Chopsticks Showcases Japan's Traditional Chopstick Art

Everything Chopsticks has just added a new style of Wakasa chopsticks to their selection of special Japanese artisan chopsticks. The new chopstick is the Nasu Red layered lacquered chopsticks.

The Nasu Red Wakasa chopsticks feature bright red base layers of lacquer, followed by several alternating layers of cream and gold lacquer, finished with layers of black. The colored layers are exposed through carving and polishing, revealing their decorative contrast and beauty.

Wakasa chopsticks are an ancient form of chopstick design and manufacturing originating in the small city of Obama, Japan which sits along Wakasa Bay. The Wakasa style replicates images of the ocean seafloor viewed through the crystal clear waters of the bay.

Elegant Wakasa chopsticks have been made in Fukui prefecture, Japan since the Edo period (1603-1868). Craftsmen apply multiple layers of lacquer to each chopstick and may also incorporate small pieces of shell or mother of pearl. Frequently the lacquer coatings are carved in order to expose the layers.

Carving also determines the final shape of the chopstick. The chopstick is then polished to bring out the beauty and colors of the lacquering. These painstaking processes take several weeks to a couple months to complete. Truly every pair is a work of art.

Wakasa is becoming a rare artisan trade. In the mid 1800's there were over 300 family shops in Obama practicing this lacquer technique. Today there are just 9 shops remaining.

The new Nasu Red Wakasa chopsticks are available at EverythingChopsticks.com. There are eleven models of Wakasa chopsticks ranging in price from $10-$30. Styles include the popular Bijin, Daikan and Kai.

About Everything Chopsticks
Everything Chopsticks (http://EverythingChopsticks.com) has been a leading provider of chopsticks since 2005, specializing in quality chopsticks from Asian cultures around the world.

Future Launches The Photography Show

Supported by the Royal Photographic Society;
Hosted at the NEC, Saturday 1 Tuesday 4 March 2014.

This new consumer and professional event will combine highly interactive features to entertain and engage consumers, with dedicated conferences and events for the trade and retailer attendees. The Photography Show will be a must-visit event for amateurs, professionals and retailers.

Future is the worlds leading publisher of photography magazines, with an amazing portfolio of successful brands online, on mobile and in print. Digital Camera is the UKs best-selling monthly photography title in both print and digital. Photography Week is the worlds best-selling digital weekly photography magazine. Practical Photoshop is the UKs best-selling Photoshop magazine. N-Photo and PhotoPlus are the worlds best-selling Nikon and Canon magazines respectively. Futures photography brands reach more than one million enthusiasts each month and our photography websites deliver more than 2.5 million page impressions.

The Photography Show will bring all this experience and enthusiasm to life for the UKs growing audience of amateur photographers, with some of the biggest names in the industry unlocking the secrets of their craft. The show floor itself will be brimming with hundreds of exhibitors, the very latest kit and accessories, and an array of interactive opportunities to get involved. A full-spec studio suite will also be created on-site for visitors wanting to get hands-on in a professional environment, and themed areas including a Wildflower Garden will be specially created to ensure all subject interests are fully catered for. More activities will be announced in coming months, including details of a major gallery exhibition.

Futures Head of Photography Matthew Pierce says: The imaging industry is evolving at speed and we believe there is a real opportunity to create a dynamic and inclusive event with photography at its core which will deliver a broad audience of imaging enthusiasts. Future has a world-leading, multi-award-winning portfolio of photography brands and is recognised internationally for its innovation. The Photography Show will be another example of that.

The Photography Show will be supported by a major six-figure marketing campaign, including targeting Futures own leading technology brands T3 and TechRadar.com, which, as the UKs biggest tech review site, reaches over four million tech enthusiasts every month.

Futures Head of Events Jonny Sullens adds: The Photography Show is a great example of Future unlocking the potential of its market leading brands. I am really excited at the prospect of bringing such an innovative and exciting market to life over four days at the NEC.

The UK photographic industry has already reacted with enthusiastic support:

BPI News Publisher Clive Insley says: The launch of the Photography Show is great news for the entire imaging industry. A national UK photo show in March at the NEC is the vital springboard needed by the trade to launch the latest products and services to thousands of their customers. For professional photographers and enthusiasts its the focal point for everything photographic under one roof at the right venue and at the right time of year.

Royal Photographic Society Director General Dr Michael Pritchard adds: The RPS is delighted that Future has launched the Photography Show at the NEC as the industry needs an annual showcase to promote itself. Future has some ambitious plans and the RPS will be supporting them.

Adobe Principal Solutions Consultant Richard Curtis says: The UK photographic market is an important part of the creative industries, so its good news that Future has stepped in to lead a replacement for the already successful Focus on Imaging show at the NEC.

The Flash Centre Managing Director Chris Whittle adds: Focus on Imaging was the right show, in the right place and at the right time so we are pleased that Future has launched The Photography Show at the NEC in March 2014.

PMA Director of UK Activities Nigel McNaught adds: The photo industry needs a showcase for its products and services and I am delighted to learn that the new event from Future will be very hands on combining demonstrations with education sessions. PMA is pleased to support this initiative.

DPR Korea: UN adds ancient city of Kaesong to its World Heritage list

The ancient city of Kaesong located in what is now the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea has today been granted World Heritage status as the United Nations continues its review of dozens of natural and cultural wonders around the world.

The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO) World Heritage Committee today approved the bid at its ongoing meeting in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, noting the site embodied the political, cultural, philosophical and spiritual values of a crucial era in the regions history.

Kaesong city consists of 12 separate components ranging from palaces to an astronomical and meteorological observatory and defensive walls that integrate Buddhist, Confucian, Taoist and geomantic concepts. Taken together, these testify to the history and culture of the Koryo Dynasty, which ruled from 918 to 1392 and unified the various states which had inhabited the Peninsula, the Committee said.

The ancient city is the countrys second World Heritage site after the Complex of Koguryo Tombs in Pyongyang, listed in 2004.

Also today, the Committee selected the ancient city of Tauric Chersonese founded by the Dorian Greeks in the 5th century BC on the northern shores of the Black Sea in Ukraine. The site encompasses six urban areas and hundreds of chora, rectangular plots of equal size, which the UN agency said is an outstanding example of democratic land organization linked to an ancient polis.

The choras supported vineyard cultivation. In the 3rd century AD, the city was the top wine producer of the Black Sea and served as a hub for the Greek, Roman and Byzantine Empires, and populations north of the Black Sea. The city thrived until the 15th century and is known as the Ukrainian Pompeii.

The towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum and their associated villas, preserved when Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD in Italy, have been a World Heritage site since 1997.

Adding to Italys World Heritage sites, the Committee today honoured the twelve villas and two pleasure gardens spread across the Tuscan countryside once belonging to the Medicis. The family greatly influenced modern European culture through its patronage. Built between the 15th and 17th centuries, the villas represent an innovative system of rural construction in harmony with nature and dedicated to leisure, the arts and knowledge and form the first example of the connection between habitat, gardens, and the environment, which helped develop the appreciation of landscape characteristic of Humanism and the Renaissance, the Committee said.

In Iran, the Committee honoured the Golestan Palace which represents a new style incorporating traditional Persian arts and crafts and elements of 18th century architecture and technology. The lavish structure is considered a masterpiece of the Qajar, whose family came into power in 1779 and made Tehran the capital of the country.

The Committee also selected for inclusion the Bergpark Wilhelmshhe, a park in Kessel, Germany, begun by Landgrave Carl of Hesse-Kassel in 1689.

The great size of the park and its waterworks along with the towering Hercules statue constitute an expression of the ideals of absolutist Monarchy while the ensemble is a remarkable testimony to the aesthetics of the Baroque and Romantic periods, UNESCO had said in approving its bid.

The UN agency also approved an extension today of the Bochnia Royal Salt Mines to the Polish Wieliczka Salt Mines inscribed to the World Heritage List in 1978, creating the Wieliczka and Bochnia Royal Salt Mines. The rock salt deposit in Wieliczka-Bochnia has been mined since the 13th century and is the oldest of its type in Europe. The site includes altars and statues sculpted in the salt, making what the Committee called a fascinating pilgrimage into the past of a major industrial undertaking that developed over 700 years.

The Committee, meeting since 16 June in Cambodia, is reviewing 32 proposed sites and reviewing several already on the list. It is due to wrap up its work this week.

Soon after, when his father bought him a Soul-4-Real album and he heard the song "Candy Rain", DASH knew for a fact that he wanted to pursue a career in music . At the tender age of 11, DASH formed a rap group made up of ten friends who freestyled to beats they made on tables during lunch. This was just the beginning of his determination and drive to become a musical star. As DASH found his "voice" the group shrunk to 3 artists who were ready to make the switch from rap to R&B (read more).

SWAIA Presents the Inaugural Artist Designed Collection: Ehren Kee Natay for Santa Fe Indian Market

The Southwestern Association for Indian Arts is proud to present the first ever Artist Designed Collection at the 2013 Santa Fe Indian Market. The Artist Designed Collection will allow SWAIA to bring fresh and exciting work to an ever-expanding audience. Inspired by the artistic intersection of traditional and contemporary design, SWAIA has chosen artist Ehren Kee Natay (Din/Kewa Pueblo/Cherokee) to create a set of bold motifs that encapsulate the innovative spirit of the Santa Fe Indian Market.

Joining the ranks of the prolific poster artists of previous years, Natay feels deeply honored by this opportunity to produce new work for SWAIA. His designs, which will be featured on a range of limited edition merchandise, focus on bridging the gap between Native tradition and modern trends. He seeks to combine, as he says, Native themes with the style of street art. The playful designs, which collapse such disparate motifs as Mimbres iconography and graffiti techniques, pay homage to both tradition and innovation in a novel fashion.

As an artist of multiple media and a professional musician, dancer, and actor, Natay feels comfortable taking on a project of this magnitude. Explaining that he fills notebooks with the same images over and over, he notes that each design required many preparatory sketches. The vibrant colors also required this level of attention; as in traditional Native art, each hue carries a symbolic meaning and is meant to evoke an emotional response. Each line and color has a distinct purpose, making the designs both aesthetically and ideologically significant. Like the high-caliber artists commissioned by SWAIA in previous years, Natay puts a new spin on Native art, ensuring that the esteemed legacy of the Santa Fe Indian Market will continue far into the future.

All proceeds of the Artist Designed Collection will directly benefit SWAIA and, in turn, the artists of the Santa Fe Indian Market. SWAIA, as an advocate for Native artists, strives to build a broad and supportive platform for Native American art and culture. The Artist Designed Collection, created by a Native artist, will expand this platform and effect positive change for Native artists.

Spider Holster Unveils SpiderPro Large Lens Pouch

Spider Holster, (http://www.spiderholster.com) a company specializing in unique holster-style camera carrying solutions for photographers, today announced the launch of its newest accessory, the SpiderPro Large Lens Pouch. Designed for the Pro-grade 70-200 mm zoom lenses with the hood attached, the pouchs unique design provides superb quick-draw accessibility while maintaining optimal lens protection. All purchases will also include the Spider Monkey accessory holster (a retail value of $20.00), which is fully compatible and clips to the pouch exterior.

Ideal for photographers that are looking to maintain a hands-free workflow while eliminating the tangle of shoulder bags and neck straps, the SpiderPro Large Lens Pouch includes some ingenious modifications on traditional top-load lens cases. To improve accessibility and enable swapping lenses safely with one hand, the SpiderPro Large Lens Pouch features a water resistant vertical zipper that runs down the middle. Where traditional lens pouches barely allow enough clearance to wrap fingertips around the large diameter of the lens, the expandable mouth of the Spider Holster pouch enables the photographer to comfortably reach all the way in and take a firm grip of the lens at the mid-section. This expandable zipper opening also allows for a much easier insertion of Pro lenses with the hood attached, as the photographer no longer needs to reverse the lens hood or change the lenss configuration.

Included with the Large Lens Pouch is the Spider Monkey accessory holster, which is specially designed to safely clip to the outside of the pouch. The photographer can then expand their carrying options by quickly attaching all Spider Monkey accessory line offerings (light meters, speedlights, battery packs) and future items such as lens pouches, rain covers and more.

The SpiderPro Large Lens Pouch also provides a unique solution for the rear lens cap, saving time and hassle when exchanging lenses while keeping the rear lens cap secure while not in use.

With a secure Velcro attachment point, the SpiderPro pouch easily hangs from any belt, allowing for rotation when not in use. The modular nature of the solution means photographers can quickly scale the carrying system up and down to meet their gear needs for any shoot. Crafted using both tough Cordura and flexible Neoprene, the pouch also offers flexibility and strength to safely carry and accommodate various lenses.

As our product development is conducted by professional photographers, we are able to envision how carrying solutions will work for wedding and event photographers on the job. It was this insight that led to the initial invention of the Spider Holster, and has informed all of our product development since, said Shai Eynav, President of Spider Holster. When our customers came to us with a desire to hang a lens pouch from their Spider Belt, we were determined to better the issues we saw with pouches available at the time, and the result was the SpiderPro Large Lens Pouch.

Features of the Spider Pro Large Lens Pouch include:
  • Expandable pouch opening allowing for quick and safe access to lenses
  • Built-in solution for tethering the rear lens cap while changing lenses
  • A removable pouch lid that can fold back and out of the way when quick access is necessary to protect contents from the elements
  • Spider Monkey accessory holster clip
  • Built in features to add Spider Monkey clip and full accessory line
  • Folds flat for ease of travel
  • Accommodates third party industry standard belts

The base SpiderPro Large Lens Pouch, which includes a Spider Monkey accessory holster clip, will carry an MSRP of $75.00. The product will be available for direct purchase through the company website, and at Spider Holster authorized dealers. Unique Jewelry, Art and Gift Shop in Bellingham, Wash. Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary by Giving Back

Whimsey, a locally owned jewelry and art gallery in the heart of Fairhaven, is pleased to announce its upcoming 10-year anniversary. To celebrate the milestone anniversary, Whimsey and its artists are giving back. Beginning now through July 26th, the gallery is inviting customers to enter its raffle for a chance to win one of several pieces donated by Whimsey and its talented artists. All proceeds from the raffle will go to the Whatcom Humane Society.

"We are so proud to be a part of this fabulous Bellingham community and to be celebrating our 10-year anniversary this July, says owner Cami Grichel. We couldnt think of a better way to celebrate than to give back. So we decided to showcase some of our favorite pieces from our fantastic artists, and to hold a raffle that will benefit the animals at the local Humane Society.

The drawing will be held in July at Whimsey's anniversary party on July 26th (see the store for details). Raffle tickets are $5 each and can be purchased with cash, credit card or check (made out to WHS). Customers can choose the item(s) theyd like to enter to win.

We are looking forward to having a fun anniversary party to celebrate this huge milestone with our friends, family and customers all of whom have made the past 10 years such a success, Cami says. My hope for this raffle is that we will raise a nice donation for the Humane Society and also showcase the incredible and diverse talent of the artists we feature.

To purchase raffle tickets, please call (360) 733-5568 or stop by the Whimsey gallery at 1200 10th Street Ste. 104, Bellingham, Wash.
