Arts: Surrealist Santiago Ribeiro Exhibiting in Dallas, Texas

The Fantastic Realism exhibit captivates provocative and imaginative artworks in a variety of media from local and international artist. Participating artists include Katrin Alvarez, Shahla Rosa, Magi Calhoun, Chema Gil, Alan Shepard, Sue Little, Mark Vey, Sergei Rodionov, Liba W. Stambollion, Patrick Soulieres, Kathy Seaboyer, Trent Mann, Salvatore Zagami, Igor Samsonov, Santiago Ribeiro, Otto Rapp, and Tina Spiro.

Born in Coimbra, Portugal, Santiago Ribeiro, 49, has organized and participated in numerous individual and collective art exhibitions in Portugal and abroad.

He is the founder, in 2010, of the International Surrealism Now project, recognized by artists in 27 countries, dedicated to the promotion of surrealism as an art form.

His work is represented in several private collections, namely the Collection of Contemporary Art of the National Museum Machado de Castro and in the Bissaya Barreto Foundation in Coimbra, Portugal.

About the other artists: Romanian born sculptor, Magi Calhoun lives and works in Dallas, giving life to clay in narrations depicting the inner world of emotions and dreams.

In Portuguese artist, Santiago Ribeiro's paintings, complex compositions illustrate deep concerns about modern society and its individual and collective behavior Santiago's work is in numerous private collections as well as in the Collection of Contemporary Art of the National Museum Machado de Castro and in the Bissaya Barreto Foundation in Coimbra, Portugal.

Sometime playful, often times haunting, the phenomenal, dreamlike artworks highlighted in this exhibition depict the evolution of a deeply intellectual and imaginative artist movement as expressed by both local and international artists, including Katrin Alvarez, Shahla Rosa, Magi Calhoun, Chema Gil, Alan Shepard, Sue Little, Mark Vey, Sergei Rodionov, Liba W. Stambollion, Patrick Soulieres, Kathy Seaboyer, Trent Mann, Salvatore Zagami, Igor Samsonov, Otto Rapp, Santiago Ribeiro and Tina Spiro.
