Adorama Hosts NAB Spin-off, Puts Top Manufacturers Hot New Products on Display in New York City

Adorama, the leading supplier of professional video, photographic and consumer electronics products, is bringing the NAB buzz to the Big Apple this May. The retailer, just back from a hugely successful NAB appearance a few weeks ago, will be hosting a post-NAB* spin-off event on Thursday, May 9th from 1-8pm at their new event space at 55 West 17th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, in New York City. Following close on the heels of NAB 2013 and sticking to a format similar to that of tradeshows, the event will feature a handpicked selection of manufacturers.

Adoramas event, which will be open to the public, will feature up to 20 exhibitors, including industry powerhouses like AJA, Sony Electronics, Blackmagic Design, RED, Canon, Convergent Design, JVC, Newtek, Panasonic and TV Logic. NAB is perfect for showcasing our newest technologies and meeting with several groups of customers that are important to Sony, said Tom Anderson, National Sales Manager Professional Solutions of America at Sony. But its only four days, once a year. Extending the NAB experience to a wider audience of current and potential customers is a great idea that gives us more opportunities to reach new markets and identify more applications for our products. Adorama has the right mix of resources and technology expertise to make this a cant miss event that will benefit their customers and Sony.

The displays will include the latest pro-video equipment, providing attendees a chance to get hands-on with the gear and speak one-on-one to representatives. "Blackmagic Design announced nine new products at NAB, including the Pocket Cinema Camera, Production Camera 4K and new Ultra HD product lines. We are looking forward to future opportunities to show these and other products off, and know that filmmakers, broadcasters and post professionals are excited to learn and see more, said Dan May, president, Blackmagic Design.

Adorama video, film and photography specialists will also be onsite to provide attendees with information on the latest acquisition technology and digital media accessories available, as well as to place orders for interested attendees. Those who place orders of $1,000 or more on products from participating manufacturers will receive a $100 Adorama gift card to be used towards a future purchase.

NAB 2013 was a huge success for Adorama, as well as many of the manufacturers we work closely with, comments Abigail Hessney, marketing manager of professional video and audio at Adorama. We are replicating that experience for those who were not able to attend the show as well as the people who want a second chance to see and test-drive the gear. Adorama is bringing the talent and technology to the people making it easier for them to get the latest information to make important decisions on the tools they need to successfully do their job.

Details for the Adorama Post-NAB Event
This exclusive post-NAB event will take place at Adoramas event space located at 55 West 17th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, in New York City. Admission is free, with doors open to attendees between 1pm and 8pm on Thursday, May 9, 2013.

Original gouache by Calder, dazzling 6.01-ct. diamond ring will headline A. B. Levy's May 5 auction

(PALM BEACH, Fla.) The partial contents of a prominent Palm Beach oceanfront estate, fine Asian works of art and Persian carpets from a private Delray Beach collection and many other quality consignments will be sold in a two-session auction slated for Sunday, May 5, by A. B. Levys, in their main gallery located at 211 Worth Avenue. In all, over 450 lots will come up for bid.

Session one will begin promptly at 11 a.m. (EST) and feature lots 1-135. After a brief break, starting at around 2 p.m., session two will see lots 136-449 cross the auction block. For those unable to attend live, Internet bidding will be available through the A. B. Levys website (ablevys.com). Telephone and absentee bids will also be accepted.

The entire sale is loaded with fabulous jewelry, art and antiques, but were especially excited about the items from the Palm Beach oceanfront estate, said Albert Levy of A. B. Levys. We also have a wonderful selection of estate jewelry, including a twice-signed Patek Philippe mens wristwatch that was offered by Tiffany (est. $10,000-$20,000) and outstanding period furniture.

Two lots are expected to sell for $100,000-$200,000 each. One is a Cartier certified 6.01-carat fancy intense yellow diamond ring. The other is an original gouache painting (not a lithograph) by Alexander Calder (Am./Fr., 1898-1976), signed in the artists hand and executed in 1969. Calder was renowned as a sculptor and probably became best known for his kinetic abstract mobiles. But he also did floor pieces and was proficient as a painter in watercolor, oil and gouache (opaque watercolor paints).

Another estate jewelry lot is expected to draw serious bidder attention. It is an important GIA-certified 1.14-carat pink diamond. It should command $50,000-$70,000.

From the Palm Beach mansion, a pair of 18th century carved, painted and gilt female figures standing just over five feet tall, should fetch $20,000; and a pair of Italian carved marble blackamoors, a man and woman, each on a raised circular pedestal, should hit $10,000-$20,000.

A Francois Linke Louis XVI-style bureau a cylinder (roll-top desk) carries a pre-sale estimate of $30,000-$50,000. Also, a pair of 19th century French Louis XV/XVI-style carved, painted and gilt-wood consoles, is expected to sell for $2,000-$4,000.

Other period furniture pieces will feature an English chinoiserie (Chinese-patterned) secretary bookcase (est. $4,000-$6,000); a Louis XVI-style painted dressing mirror and console (est. $800-$1,200); and a French provincial carved and painted side cabinet (est. $800-$1,200).

Asian lots red-hot among collectors, both here and abroad will include Chinese ink on silk paintings, ivory, jade, snuff bottles and porcelain. Several KPM (Berlin) porcelain plaques will be offered, one showing a young girl holding flowers; its expected to bring $9,000-$12,000. Also, a sculpture by French artist Henry E. Dumaige (1830-1888) should realize $1,000-$2,000.

Other creations by artists such as Dale Chihuly and Pablo Picasso will also change hands. Additional recognizable names to be chanted that day will include Lalique, Baccarat, Bergman, Louis Vuitton, DuPont, Montague Dawson, Yabu Meizan and Kinkozan (the last two Satsuma). From estate jewelry the roster will include Rolex, Piaget, Chopard, Cartier and Patek Philippe.

A Tiffany Studios glass and bronze lamp in the Pomegranate pattern is expected to light up the room for $8,000-$12,000; a pair of Karl Springer lamps are estimated at $7,000-$10,000 for the pair; a fine Victrola mahogany music cabinet should play a sweet tune for $1,000-$3,000; two large patinated white metal figural candelabra should make $4,000-$6,000; and a pair of Continental gilt-bronze and ivory mounted candelabra are estimated to realize $3,000-$5,000.

The auction will also feature Persian carpets, certified $500 and $1,000 bills, a Hermes Kelly bag, English and European silver and boxed flatware and tableware. Previews will be held daily through May 4, at A.B. Levys Worth Avenue gallery, from 10-6, including Sunday. There will be no preview prior to sale on auction day. A buyers premium will apply to all purchases.

A.B. Levys is always accepting quality consignments for future auctions. Veteran Opera Bass Harry Dworchak to Perform in New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera's Gianni Schicchi

Lucine Amara, Artistic Director of the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera (Verismo Opera), announces veteran opera bass, Harry Dworchak, will return to the stage to debut in the company's premiere of Giacomo Puccini's Gianni Schicchi. He will perform the role of Maestro Spinelloccio.

Verismo Opera will present this comedic dark opera in conjunction with the company's new production of Ruggero Leoncavallo's tragic love story, I Pagliacci. The double bill will be performed on Sunday, April 21 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC), located at 30 North Van Brunt Street in Englewood, New Jersey.

"Verismo Opera is honored and humbled by Mr. Dworchak's decision to sing the role of Maestro Spinelloccio in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi," said Amara.

For 40 years, Dworchak has sung operas and concerts on the world's greatest stages. In the New Jersey State Opera's 1974 production of Puccini's Turandot, he performed as Timor with Birgit Nilsson, Placido Domingo and Licia Albanese. Taking a curious pinnacle of the Italian bass repertory on November 4, 1986 at the New York City Opera, he sang one of the most challenging roles for a bass, Arrigo Boito's Mefistofele.

Dworchak made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1987 as Ferrando in Giuseppe Verdi's Il trovatore, retiring from the Met in 2002. He won the prestigious Richard Tucker Award and sang his first Wotans at the Stadttheater Augsgurg and debuted with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in the role of Scarpia in Puccini's Tosca.

For the last 30 years, he has taught vocal technique. "To sing one repertoire on the world's stages is difficult enough, but for the last 25 years, I have been singing three repertoires," said Dworchak.

Full Productions

Under Lucine Amara, one of the Metropolitan Opera's luminary performers, Verismo Opera will present the one-act operas fully staged with a live orchestra. Stage Director and Canadian soprano Evelyn La Quaif directs the new productions. The program features the aria "O mio babbino caro", one of the most popular arias in opera.

Internationally renowned Principal Conductor/Music Director Anthony Morss will conduct the performance of I Pagliacci and Mara Waldman will conduct Gianni Schicchi for the first time. The performances will be sung in Italian with English supertitles. A complete cast will perform in period costumes designed by Catherine Mirabella and Barbara Konig.

Special discounts are available for children and senior citizens to see these performances. Children, ages 12 and under, are eligible to receive a $10 ticket to see Gianni Schicchi and I Pagliacci. The American Quilters Society, headquartered in Paducah, KY, presents an all-new exhibition from the Tentmakers of Cairo at AQS QuiltWeek in Paducah, KY. The 2013 North American tour of Stitch Like an Egyptian makes its second stop with 100 new works of appliqu artistry. Each piece is handmade in Cairo specifically for exhibition in the United States, and will be accompanied by two of the artists.

All 100 works on display are masterfully designed and crafted, showing the breadth of design and composition that typify this uniquely Egyptian art form. Egyptian tentmakers appliqu stunning designs to canvas-backed cotton backgrounds forming multiple layers of design and dimension. Made entirely by hand on a single street in Cairo, Egypt, these appliqu designs make bold statements in home dcor as conversation pieces or wall hangings. Through the sponsorship and support of the American Quilters Society, the U.S. is falling in love with the men and their work.

The exhibits curator, Jenny Bowker, and two of the Tentmakers of Cairo will travel more than 5,000 miles to join the works in Paducah. Tentmakers Tarek Abdelhay & Hosam Hanafy will meet and chat with visitors, all while stitching new pieces at lightning speed. On seeing the men in their North American Premiere, visitors from Illinois and Michigan, report, If only I could appliqu so fast!! They are a joy to watch. And Their work is phenomenal.

Excitement saturates the exhibit, as Tarek and Hosam radiate warmth, welcoming visitors to fully immerse themselves in the experience. Thousands come to see the jaw-dropping artwork, many spend hours watching the men work, and others come to purchase a piece for their collection. The sale of the Egyptian artwork begins at the Sneak Preview (ticketed event) on Tuesday, April 23, 7:30 9:30 p.m., and during show hours the rest of the week.

At home in Egypt, the Tentmakers of Cairo arent met with the appreciation they find in the United States. Viewed more as craftsmen than artists, they go unnoticed by many in Cairo. Yet American audiences appreciate the skill and artistry of their work, and are absolutely thrilled to learn from them.

At AQS QuiltWeek, the Tentmakers of Cairo experience the respect and appreciation artists of their caliber deserve. Tim Langlitz, AQS Marketing Director, shares, Its such a joy to learn more about these men and their work seeing the appreciation grow has been inspiring.

Admission to the Stitch Like an Egyptian exhibit is free with admission to AQS QuiltWeek. Hours are Wednesday, April 24 through Friday, April 26, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, April 27, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

New Auction Record Set for a Jenness Cortez Painting

According to the Perlmutter Gallery in Averill Park, New York, a new auction record was set for contemporary realist Jenness Cortez when her painting entitled A Vision of Two Cultures sold for $120,000 at the March 16, 2013 Russell Museum auction in Great Falls, Montana. Total sales for the annual Russell Museum fundraising event grossed a total of $3.6 million.

This record-setting price for a Cortez painting is a testament to this artists incredible talent, said Leonard Perlmutter, founder of Perlmutter Gallery in Averill Park, New York, the exclusive representative of Jenness Cortez. For centuries, artists have been challenging their intellects and skills by paying homage to the painters who preceded them. Now, through her homage to the creative spirit series, Jenness Cortez has emerged as the twenty-first centurys most notable exponent of this facet of art history. Her masterful work gives Cortez solid footing in the colorful lineage of artists who have appropriated vintage images and woven them into their own distinctive, recognizable fabric.

As in all of her recent still life and interior paintings, Cortez reexamines the classic paradox of realism: the painting both as a window into an imagined space and as a physical object. Her work challenges the viewers intellectual curiosity and celebrates the sheer pleasure of beautiful painting. In her works, Cortez plays author, architect, visual journalist, art historian, curator and pundit to help open our eyes to what we might otherwise have overlooked or taken for granted.

In A Vision of Two Cultures, Cortez places C.M. Russells 25-foot masterpiece Lewis and Clark Meeting the Indians at Ross Hole (1912) at the center of the composition. The Russell painting hangs above a bookshelf upon which sit a group of objects in a shallow space. The objects that Cortez chose to include in her work include Charles Willson Peales portraits of William Clark (1810) and Meriwether Lewis (1807); Edward Curtiss photograph of Nez Perce leader Chief Joseph (1903); a bowl of pink flowers; a stack of books topped by William Clarks 1803 silver pocket compass made by Thomas Whitney; a Jefferson Peace Medal embellished with Indian quillwork and feathers; a photograph of Russell; and a prehistoric Puebloan Wingate black-on-red pottery vessel (c. 1150 A.D.) containing artist brushes. Books on Lewis and Clark, George Catlin, Charles Russell, Thomas Jefferson, and similar topics line the shelf below, accompanied by a Blackfeet parfleche (c. 1880).

Cortezs title, A Vision of Two Cultures, offers a clue to the meaning of the painting. Lewis and Clarks expedition into the territory west of the Mississippi marked the beginning of the end of Indian sovereignty, and Charles Russells painting underscores their tragic loss.

Perhaps because Lewis and Clark Meeting the Indians at Ross Hole was commissioned by the state of Montana and destined to hang in the states legislative chambers, writes historian James P. Ronda (in The Masterworks of Charles M. Russell, edited by Joan C. Troccoli, pp. 203204), Russell seemed determined to use it to make a public statement about the history of the West. . . . On the right, almost lost in the painting, stand Lewis, Clark, York, and the expeditions Shoshone interpreter. The Salish and their horses are the narrative focal point, . . . [reminding] us that before Lewis and Clark arrived in what later became Montana, people with a history were already living there. . . . By placing Indians at the center of his most significant expedition painting and making Native people tell the story, Russell offers us a lesson in balance and honestya vision of two cultures at a crossroads in American history.

Commenting about Cortezs achievement, Bruce Helander, editor of "The Art Economist," proclaims that her work has, an uncommon virtuosity and romance that make this unique artist a national treasure. Robert Yassin, former director of the Indianapolis and Tucson Museums of Art writes that, The paintings of Jenness Cortez make my heart sing. Its my way of knowing the genuine articlea real work of art. The choice of the painting reproduced, the elements surrounding it, the space the elements occupy, the lighting, the color, everything is carefully selected and orchestrated following a fully articulated plan. The result is not only an all-star portrayal of the art of art, but also a beautiful painting that never fails to dazzle the eye and inspire contemplation.

Craig Zadan and Neil Meron Return to Produce the Oscars

BEVERLY HILLS, CA The acclaimed motion picture, television and theater producing team of Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will return to produce the Oscars for a second time next year, Academy President Hawk Koch announced. The Academy Awards will air live on ABC on Oscar Sunday, March 2, 2014.

Craig and Neil have the overwhelming support of the Academys Governors to produce the Oscars again in 2014" said Academy President Hawk Koch. "In order to establish continuity with this years enormously successful show, we felt it was important to give these consummate professionals the green light now to begin creating another great evening"

"We are very honored to have been asked to return as Oscar producers for a second year" said Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. "We look forward to creating a distinctive and entertaining show"

Craig and Neil have great relationships, a sense of showmanship, and a passion for our Academy, said Academy CEO Dawn Hudson. And theyre a pleasure to work with. All perfect qualities for our show"

The February 2013 Oscars hosted by Seth MacFarlane, drew an average audience of 40.3 million total viewers and delivered a 13.0 rating among adults 18-49. The show was TVs most-watched entertainment telecast in the last 3 years, and grew its overall audience for the 2nd straight year (+3%), surging 11% in adults 18-49 (13.0 rating vs. 11.7 rating) to its best numbers since 2010. In addition, the show scored gains year-to-year with adults 18-34 (+20% - 11.3 rating vs. 9.4 rating), hitting its highest number in 6 years since 2007. Overall, it was the Oscars second-most-watched telecast since 2005.

Among the innovations that Zadan and Meron plan to bring back to the 2014 show is the Oscar Experience College Search, which allows young filmmakers to assist with bringing the Oscar statuettes on-and-off stage during the show.

The Zadan/Meron Oscars displayed a signature style that incorporated a single concept for the entire evening which linked together the disparate elements of the Oscar show through music, especially classic movie themes and the frequent appearances by MacFarlane to announce the evenings presenters. The 2013 show was also distinguished by the use of motion picture talent as performers in the show such as the dance numbers performed by Charlize Theron, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Zadan and Meron served as executive producers for the 2002 Best Picture winner Chicago, which won Oscars in 6 of the 13 categories in which it was nominated. Their credits also include the features Footloose (2011), Hairspray, and The Bucket List. Zadan also produced the original Footloose (1984).

Zadan and Merons work in television includes the series SMASH and such movies as A Raisin in the Sun and Steel Magnolias.

For Broadway, they recently produced the Tony Award winning revivals of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Promises, Promises.

Their work has amassed 73 Emmy nominations; 12 Tony nominations; and seven Grammy nominations.

The Oscars will be held at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.

Wine and Design Announces Opening of Newest South Carolina Studio in Columbia

Building on its current success and popularity, Wine and Design has announced the opening of its newest franchise location in the Forest Acres area of Columbia. The company is owned and operated by Natasha Lorick and is on the second floor of Richland Mall located at 3400 Forest Drive.

Columbia is the state capital and largest city in South Carolina. Columbia was the second planned city in the United States and received its first charter as a town in 1805. The city has embraced the arts with its theatres, galleries, dance companies, orchestra, art schools, outdoor art, and murals and is further enriched by the artists who have chosen to call Columbia home. Lorick hopes that her new wine and painting party studio will add to an already rich and diverse art culture that enriches the community and attracts visitors from across the state.

The City of Columbia has really shown an interest in establishing a greater presence for the Arts and Culture for its citizens, said Lorick. I think people in Columbia are always looking for fun and innovative activities for both adults and children.

Lorick is a graduate of Winthrop University where she earned a degree in Political Science and a minor in Business Management. She worked in the insurance industry for 15 years and opened Wine and Design as a part-time business in June 2012. Corporate staffing changes led to Loricks decision to operate the company on a full-time basis and to build on her current clientele. Lorick said that Wine and Designs proven success and corporate culture convinced her to open a franchise of her own.

I wanted to be a part of a network that already had a customer base, a set of values that were in line with my own, and most importantly, knew where they wanted to go in the future, said Lorick. I also liked the fact that the franchises were owned by women who were also trying to find a balance between being a business woman and raising children. I knew that kind of support system would definitely be an asset.

Wine and Design is a popular business that began in Raleigh, NC in April 2010. The South Carolina franchise is headed by Heather Speizman who, in just one year, oversees operations in Mount Pleasant, Myrtle Beach, Greenville, and West Ashley, in addition to Columbia. Wine and Design offers clients an easy and fun approach to painting. The company provides the canvas, cover up, paints, paintbrushes, and corkscrew and attendees provide a beverage of his or her choosing. First-time painters, aspiring artists, or self-proclaimed pros browse the studios website to find a painting they would like to replicate. Sessions are led by local artists that guide participants through a carefully-orchestrated, step-by-step process that promises a finished masterpiece at the end of the two-hour session. Painting classes begin at $35. Lorick says that first-time painters shouldnt be intimidated or overwhelmed by the prospect of creating a painting on their own.

Our main objective is to provide fun art entertainment for the next two hours while allowing customers to participate in a new form of creative expression, said Lorick. We actually love it when we get first-timers [painters] because of their reaction at the end of class. Most are amazed to see what they were able to create from a blank canvas.

Wine and Design Columbia is planning to mirror the format of its parent studio by offering date nights, paint your house and paint your pet nights, and booking private parties. Rolling Stones Tickets: Rolling Stones Tickets at Wells Fargo Center Philadelphia, TD Garden Boston, Honda Center Anaheim, and Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sale 4/15

The Rolling Stones continues its 50 and Counting Concert Tour, with dates in the United Kingdom and the United States. The tour also added an additional concert for Philadelphia which will also be at the Wells Fargo Center. Tickets go on sale starting Monday, April 15th for concerts in Philadelphia, Boston, Anaheim and Los Angeles.

The Stones have been performing together for the past 50 years, and the concert tour is a celebration with fans. They may not be as spry and lively as before, but they still have the moves and they can still make the audience sing, dance and jump about.

The United States leg is an extension of the original 2012 sold-out concerts in the United Kingdom and in New York. The Stones performed five concerts with various special guests. The band was nominated for the 2013 Brit Award for Bet Live Act. They have also recently announced that they would be performing at Hyde Park. The tickets for the Hyde Park concert sold out in five minutes. Their upcoming Hyde Park concert is an anniversary celebration of their historic 1969 concert where 250,000 were in attendance. This time, the Hyde Park concert will not be free, tickets start at 95 each.

There are so few groups which can boast of fifty years of working together. Even among that elite group, fewer still can boast of going on tour and adding playdates as they go along. The Stones's schedule so far allows them to rest and recuperate between shows. It also allow The Stones's to add more shows depending on the fan reaction. The second Philadelphia show is a reaction to the strong fan demand for this once in a lifetime experience.

2013 has brought a lot of things courtesy of the Rolling Stones. For one, they have former band members jamming with them on stage. They will also be headlining Glastonbury the week before they play Hyde Park. On top of all that, the band will also be playing a second night at Philadelphia, which underlines the importance of the city to these classic rockers.

Qianlong Starry Glass Mountain Sets Record at Kaminski's March Fine Asian Art and Antique Auction

Prices for exciting and rare glass, ivory, bronze, and ceramic items soared above their high estimates at the March 30th day long Fine Asian Art and Antiques Auction at Kaminski.

The top lot of the day brought in phone and online bidders from around the world for competitive bidding. The auction hall audience and staff watched as the bidding for Lot 4236, a carved starry glass mountain, climbed well above the original estimate of $12,000 to finally settle at a record-setting $65,520. The glass mountain with a Qianlong mark was carved in the form of three rams on a rocky outcrop and set on a huanghuali wood stand. It came to Kaminski Auctions from the collection of a Boston College Professor, and stood only 6 inches tall.

Despite the small scale of the mountain, the piece carries great historical significance and auspicious meaning. Starry glass, was a form of glass making newly developed in the eighteenth century, when artists added gold dust to give the glass its entrancing shimmer. Research done prior to the sale at Kaminski Auctions indicates that only one other starry glass mountain in this form has been sold at auction. The three rams that surround the mountain are known as sanyang and indicate that the New Year will bring a change of fortune.

A pair of monumental elephant tusks that became a focal point of the Kaminski gallery in the weeks leading up to the sale also garnered significant bidding attention. The tusks, complete with original documentation of their legal capture, towered above visitors at seven feet three inches tall, and each weighed over 100 pounds. The pair, after much competition, sold for $54,990.

A pair of equally large and impressive sixty-six inch tall huanghuali lanterns was also among the top lots of the sale. The pair of lanterns came from the Qing Dynasty and featured intricate carvings of clouds, monkeys, dragons, and coins, and sold for $25,740.

Kaminskis sale also featured two high selling rhinoceros horn items. Lot 4378 included an antique pair of rhinoceros horns mounted in sterling silver that sold for $32,400. A pair of rhinoceros horn inkwells also sold well, fetching $13,200.

A beautiful pair of bronze vessels in the form of decorated elephants carrying vases on their backs also captured the interest of the audience. The Qing Dynasty pieces sold to an internet bidder for $25,200. A thangka from eighteenth or nineteenth century Tibet also sold above estimate at $19,890. The finely painted cloth featured the Shakyamuni Buddha in the center surrounded by guardians and Luohan.

Fine Asian furnishings also performed well. A pair of zitan chairs with distinctive cut out designs and back slat panels with intricately carved flowers fetched $17,000. Another pair of chairs, with horseshoe shaped woven seats and floral carved back panels, sold for $9,500.

With the closure of this record setting Asian sale, Kaminski Auctions looks forward to its next Fine Asian Arts and Antiques Auction, to be held on June 22, 2013.

Creating Unique Birth Announcements… Easy as 1, 2, 3

New parents give a lot of thought into creating the perfect birth announcement. They want one that will be cherished by family and friends for years to come, and hold that prominent spot in the baby book.

There are so many choices that exist for birth announcements from the modern to the traditional and everything in between that it can get overwhelming whether you are a newbie parent or a seasoned one. No matter if it is pink or blue (or gender neutral), one picture or multiple ones to show off the precious little bundle of joy, the birth announcement possibilities just seem endless.

Now PhotoAffections makes the process a lot easier!

Here are a few tips and tricks to help you create a birth announcement masterpiece. Remember, anyone can do them and even on a budget (and a timeline). There are a few factors that you must decide on before the fun can begin, such as: size, price and overall color scheme. Pick a design that suits your style, personalize it with a message and/or add a sentimental closing.

One photo or multiple photos?

While one photo takes center stage it's nice to include more photos for variety, and to show off that tiny little being. Start with the basics and necessary items to include on the announcement.

Make sure the name is prominent!

You've consulted the baby name books as if they were the Bible and now you get to announce the name to the world. Don't let the other items to note on the announcement including the date and time born, weight and length, drown out what is most important.

Choosing introductory words.

Opening with, "Welcomed By," to "Proud Parents," or "Welcomed With Love," are just a few that you could use. Just remember there is no right or wrong way to do this, it all comes down to your choice of design and style. What a great way to welcome the baby into the family! You'll be sure to receive many compliments from your little one's birth announcement from friends and family. It is one thing to complete the design of the birth announcement online but it will look even more beautiful when PhotoAffections ships it off, and you receive it in person. Happy designing!
