North Shore Flea Launches with a No-Cost Show for Dealers

The North Shore Flea will be off to a strong start for the season this May 12th. That's in part because the promoters have made it free for vendors.

Vintage Promotions, LLC, which also produces Vintage Garage Chicago, announced earlier this week that any vendors signed up for the May 19 garage show can participate in the North Shore Flea at no cost.

"No, we're not making money off this one," says promoter Melissa Sands. "It may be the first show anywhere that's free for both dealers and customers."

More than 2,000 attended the Season Opener of Vintage Garage Chicago last April 21, a number Sands says is likely to grow. Customers there say more vintage and more vendors are the way to keep improving.

"So this is what we need to do to get the North Shore Flea off to a strong start," Sands says. "Everyone can use the full purse they could get from a free show."

Is there a catch? "Not reallyyou have to fill out an application in advance (you can't just show up) and you have to sign a contract,f but other than that if you're in for the May 19 Vintage Garage Chicago, you're in here."

The cost to display at Vintage Garage Chicago is $140, which includes a space big enough for your car. Space is limited at both locations.
