The Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago Selects ElliptiGO Bicycle for New Exhibit

ElliptiGO Inc., creators of the worlds first elliptical bicycle, today announced that the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago (MSI) selected an ElliptiGO 8S to display in its new exhibit, The Art of the Bicycle. The exhibit takes guests through the evolution of bicycle engineering, juxtaposing nine rare bicycles from the Museums collection with 14 of the most high-tech and cutting-edge bikes on the marketthe ElliptiGO 8S being one of them.

The Art of the Bicycle is designed to inspire each guests inner-inventor and give them a sense of how bicycle engineering advanced over nearly 200 years. Though the first bicycle design was simple, that initial spark of innovation inspired creative minds to invent a personal form of transportation that continues to evolve today.

This exhibit highlights the inventive genius that has helped the bicycle become one of the most popular, enjoyable and environmentally-friendly forms of transportation, said Kathleen McCarthy, the Museums director of collections. The bike is special in that the changes made to its engineering were mainly made by its riders, who were continually inspired to improve designs and make the machine more adaptable, reliable and safe.

Led by its Co-Founders, Bryan Pate and Brent Teal, ElliptiGO Inc. has continued to push the concept of the bicycle in a new direction. After more than four years of research and development, the company introduced the ElliptiGO 8S, the worlds first elliptical bicycle. The elliptical bicycle is a two-wheeled, human-powered device that is designed to emulate the experience of running while eliminating the impact. To achieve this goal, the elliptical bicycle brings together the fun and performance of a bicycle with the comfortable pedaling motion of an elliptical trainer.

Since introducing the ElliptiGO 8S in 2010, the company has launched three new models of elliptical bicycles and delivered more than 7,000 units to customers around the world. 90 riders have completed one-day elliptical bicycle rides of 100 miles or more and elliptical bicycles have been used to climb some of the toughest ascents in the country, including Pikes Peak, Mt. Washington, and Mt. Evans.

We are thrilled to be included in MSIs new The Art of the Bicycle exhibit. To be recognized by such a prestigious museum for our years of work in bringing together the best of running, cycling and the elliptical trainer into one package is humbling, stated Pate. There are a lot of people who dont yet know that the elliptical bicycle even exists, so having it on display at MSI is going to really help raise awareness about the direction were heading with the design and use of the bicycle.

For more information about MSI and The Art of the Bicycle, visit http://www.msichicago.org. The Art of the Bicycle exhibit is included in general admission and the ElliptiGO 8S will be on display at the museum through 2018. For more information about ElliptiGO and its products, visit http://www.elliptigo.com.

Author J. K. Bowden Announces the Next Release in Bioweapon Series and an Exciting Competition for Graphic Artists

Author Jeremy K. Bowden has brought together a world in which our greatest fears and our wildest dreams are simultaneously brought to life. The essence of the story is in its social commentary, but the plot itself is thoroughly engaging and packed with action and suspense. It follows the adventures of scientifically enhanced super-human characters as they battle to bring freedom back to humanity, whatever the cost.

With the first edition of his first novel, New Beginnings, making its mark on the indie scene, Bowden has big plans for the release of his second novel, Deliverance, which he hints will be available around October. In the meantime he is working on ironing out the kinks in his first edition, and aims to re-release New Beginnings with all new content, character development, and concept art, including a new cover. He is hosting a competition for emerging artists to have a chance at having their art published in the re-release of New Beginnings, which he hopes to bring out in conjunction with his next novel, Deliverance.

The next novel promises to bring with it a host of new characters, some terrifying and others beautiful, as he draws upon current sciences to develop his 'Bioweapons' - biological weapons carved out of living humans by elite scientists. Far from being limited to biological weaponry in the form of viruses and disease, Bowden gives a whole new meaning to the term as humans are transformed into living, breathing weapons with varying powers and loyalties.

Bowden states, "I love graphic novels and manga, and the idea of collaborating with other artists has always appealed to me. I would love nothing more than to see peoples imaginings of my characters brought to life through their talents, and then to print those images within the pages of the novel itself."

The competition is now open to anyone who wants to contribute, and he is offering free copies of his e-book as a preliminary prize, simply for signing up. Other prizes will be announced as the competition develops, but Bowden hopes to promote all finalists globally and work with them again on future commissioned projects in the name of artistic collaboration.

The author can be reached via the New Beginnings Facebook page for any inquiries relating to the competition, or via the contact page on his website.

C-Art Achieved Great Success in its Debut and it Prepares for the Future

C-Art Gallery, one of the new initiatives in the Miami art scene achieved great success in its first pop up exhibit located at O.Ascanio Gallery by selling eight of the thirty art works of David Rodriguez Caballero. The Spanish artist is represented by the prestigious Marlborough Gallery, which has been a key component in the success in the debut of C-Art Gallery.

The expectations of C-Art Gallery by the closing of the exhibition, June 1st, will be to close the sale of seven other art works. Curator Kosme de Baraano showed to be very satisfied with the success of Rodriguez Caballeros first solo.

Cesar Rodriguez, Director of C-Art Gallery, expressed his satisfaction upon the results of the first exhibition of David Rodriguez Caballero in Miami. Davids work has been well received by collectors of the city, which every day offers new artistic proposals and that without a doubt creates an opening to the global market. In the coming future we will be introducing a new project that includes well known Venezuelan masters such as Carlos Cruz Diez and Jesus Soto.

Rodriguez also informed that the gallery is preparing for their participation in Art Miami 2013. C-Art Gallery will continue with its pop up format until they are able to find a space that will suit the needs and characteristics the partners have in mind.

About C-Art Gallery
C-Art Gallery is a business created by a group of collectors and lovers of contemporary art who decided to present their proposal by ways of an unconventional concept of pop up exhibits of carefully selected artists. The David Rodriguez Caballero exhibit is the debut of C-Art Gallery. By ways of this first exhibit, C-Art Gallery creates a series of events through which will make known its proposal of recognized artists in alliance with prestigious galleries. The directors of C-Art Gallery have the objective of further developing the culture and art in Miami, a city that continues to be recognized in the art world.

The success of Rodriguez Caballero in his last exhibits
David Rodriguez Caballero came to Miami for his first solo exhibition after the success of his last exhibitions in the Marlborough in New York (Recent works, Marlborough Chelsea, February 2012) and in Madrid (Ongoing pieces, Marlborough Madrid, November 2012), which both were greatly welcome by the public, specialized critics and art collectors. Likewise, his exhibit has been recently in international fairs such as the prestigious Art Basel Miami, Armory Show and Arco Madrid. David Rodriguez Caballero is already working on pieces he will be showing in his coming exhibitions which will take place in Centro del Carmen de Valencia (Spain) in June 2013, and in the Gallery Marlborough in Monaco October of the same year.

About David Rodriguez Caballero
David Rodrguez Caballero (1970) is a Fine Arts BA from the University of the Basque Country (Universidad del Pas Vazco). Check out Explore Talent's latest article: Are Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Back On? The site for those that want to become celebrities delivers the latest Hollywood news to members.

Clips from the article include:

Are they or aren't they? That's the question fans have been asking about Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth for months now. After meeting in 2009 on the set of the movie "The Last Song," and then getting engaged last June, the young duo seemed to have hit a rough patch during the spring. The "Cant Be Tamed" singer was photographed without her 3.5-carat Neil Lane engagement ring, and the hot Aussie actor was seen in his homeland of Australia, and out and about without Cyrus.

It was also reported that Hemsworth's siblings, Chris and Luke, had an intervention with him, asking him to stop seeing Cyrus.

However, sources tell Us Weekly that all seemed well when the couple partied at Cyrus' home on May 10th.

"She was kissing him," a source tells the mag. "They were definitely back on."

Kentucky Monthly Partners With Celebrated Artist to Create Issue Cover

Kentucky Monthly magazine has collaborated with internationally recognized artist Aaron Kizer of Owensboro to create its June/July 2013 issue cover. The ink and watered-down Valspar wall paint piece depicts a stylized portrait of bluegrass icon Bill Monroe and corresponds to a story about the International Bluegrass Music Museum. A feature story about Kizer also appears in the issue, which will be available on newsstands by June 4.

In celebration of the musical genre born in the Bluegrass State, Kentucky Monthly and Kizer will present 10 winners with signed and numbered prints of the cover artwork. The 10 limited-edition art prints will be given away during ROMP 2013: Bluegrass Roots & Branches Festival on June 27 - 29. The magazine this year is a sponsor of the three-day musical event, which is presented by the International Bluegrass Music Museum and held annually in Owensboro. In addition to the limited-edition prints, which only can be obtained by receiving a specially-marked ROMP handout or entering to win at the Kentucky Monthly booth, 500 prints will be available for sale at Kentucky Monthly's booth at the festival.

"We are honored to have Aaron's art grace our cover," said Stephen Vest, Kentucky Monthly's editor and publisher. "To be able to highlight a community-minded and philanthropic artist such as Aaron, in an issue that features stories related to his hometown and the region's cultural heritage, and sponsor a festival dedicated to our state's musical legacyit is the embodiment of our company's mission to celebrate the best of our Commonwealth."

Kizer's work received international attention in November 2011 when a videotaped performance of him speed painting the likeness of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs went viral online. This year, the artist received acclaim for his "Black Print" project, which culminated with proceeds from the sale of his work being donated to the mother of a child with terminal brain cancer. His recent work also includes "Painting Siva," a portrait of Peyton Siva, point guard for the University of Louisville Cardinals, 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Champions. London's Imperial War Museum in Waterloo has been closed since January for a major GBP135 million redevelopment but it will reopen with a bang on June 29th when the prime attraction will be a new family exhibition, Horrible Histories: Spies, based on the popular children's books by Terry Deary.

The museum's new look will also include a new programme of contemporary art and photography and a rehang of the museum's art collection, while further refurbishment will ensure the museum's First World War galleries are ready for the centenary of the conflict in August 2014. The spy theme will continue in Secret War, an ongoing IWM London exhibition exploring the fascinating world of espionage, covert operations and the work of Britain's Special Forces, whose number including James Bond creator Ian Fleming. New York City Guide Published By Financial Firebird Corporation Introduces A New Special Events Section Featuring The Battle Of The Big Bands Concert As Its First Entry

The New York City guide from Financial Firebird featuring a directory of all Manhattan businesses, including NYC hotels, announces a new area for information about various special events. With a text area already in place for Broadway shows news and tickets, this new spot includes events beyond just those in Broadway theaters. They introduce the concept with an alert about the Battle Of The Big Bands at Lincoln Center on July 4 where George Gee's NYC big band will fight it out with Dean Moras Modern Rhythmists of Los Angeles.

New York City has always been the epicenter for big band swing music and the dancing art form of the lindy hop that complements it so well. The constant interaction among the dancers and the musicians were always evident in a wide range of ballrooms such as uptowns Savoy to midtowns Astor Roof to downtowns Caf Rouge. Truthfully, that was a different time and era Manhattan during the vivacious, but still innocent Big Band Swing Era of the 1930s and 1940s. New Yorkers hungry for nightlife dressed to the nines and criss-crossed the city island searching for that ultimate mixture of stratospheric big band jazz, the perfect dry martini and lifelong dance partner!

Fast-forward 70 years and the impeccability of the past has evolved into the cynicism of the modern era but human goals remain somewhat the same. With clubs such as Times Squares SWING46 Jazz & Supper Club still packing them in 7 nights a week catering to indistinguishable swingers and hepsters from all corners of the city, country and world in the heart of the Broadway theater and hotel district.

Nothing is more evident of this philosophy then on the dance floor at the worlds most outstanding outdoor dance series of Lincoln Centers Midsummer Night Swing (celebrating its 25th anniversary). This year tribute to the Big Band Swing Era will be spotlighted on July 4th when local favorite The George Gee Swing Orchestra shall meet on that fabled stage to do a Battle of the Big Bands versus Los Angeles Dean Moras Modern Rhythmists. Legend has it that a similar match-up of Chick Webb and Benny Goodman at Harlems Savoy Ballroom in 1937 set a bar of musical and dance (remember that dancer/musician interaction theory?) excellence that will surely be hard act to follow. Throw into this bubbling alchemical brew the addition of 24 proud and naturally competitive jazz musicians of TWO Big Bands on the same stage, side-by-side = FIREWORKS (it is the 4th of July, remember??!).

Fans wishing to attend the event at New York City's Lincoln Center July 4 starting may select from two options. For the complete experience, tickets go on sale May 22 at Lincoln Center's site for $17 each, providing access to the dance floor starting at 6pm. DJ: Adam Lee starts off the great evening followed by dance lessons from 6:30-7:15. The main event, Battle Of The Big Bands, starts at 7:30pm to 8:30pm with a second bout starting at 9:00pm to 10pm. During intermissions Adam Lee makes sure the dancing continues. Couples with four left feet who would rather just listen instead of learning some new skills at the group dance lesson may come to the sidelines and just enjoy the music and watch the other dancers for free at Damrosch Park at the Lincoln Center complex.

And to further confirm the everlasting popularity of Big Band Swing and dancing battle instigators George Gee and Dean Mora will also be bringing this behemoth show to multiple cities bookending the spotlight Lincoln Center July 4th program. Round One debuts in Deans hometown of LA the Saturday beforehand on June 29th and then the grand finale on the following July 6th Saturday in Washington DC!

Who shall be the winners? Why, the dancers and music lovers, of course!

In the coming months featured items may consist of concerts, theater or pro sports events with tickets for most available at a discount from Financial Firebird's Tickets-Cheapest.com site. Use the city guide to find some great things to do in NYC no matter if you plan a weekend visit or proudly count as a New York City resident.

Articulture Studio Z Announces Car Giveaway

Fort Myers tattoo shop announces a special giveaway for one lucky recipient at the end of summer 2013. Articulture Studio Z tattoo shop will have a drawing to give a classic car away if at least 399 customers come in and get, or at least schedule and pay for, a $399 All You Can Sit tattoo session. The car is a 1950 classic Chevrolet 2 door hard top Coupe. Everyone who purchases the special tattoo session will be automatically entered.

The All You Can Sit promotion provides anyone who wishes to get a large tattoo or a cover-up tattoo the opportunity to do so at a fraction of what it would normally cost anywhere else. The clients taking advantage of this deal can get all the body art they would like done for as long as they can sit and receive it.

This special $399 dollar All You Can Sit tattoo deal is a real bargain, said Articulture Studio Z Founder, John Improta. We want to get peoples attention and let them know what kind of value they can get for such a small price. We think that by putting this classic car up for a giveaway, it will get their attention. They could end up with not only an amazing work of body art, but a beautiful classic car as well!

The deadline for the customer count will be the last day of summer 2013. For the drawing to take place, it is required that by then at least 399 customers must come in and purchase the All You Can Sit special. Those pre-paying for the service or making the required minimum deposit will qualify as well, even if the customer does not get the tattoo right away. For those considering getting a tattoo, or getting correctional cover-up work done over an unwanted tattoo, scar or birthmark, this summer would be a good time to do so.

For those wishing to see the car that is to be given away in the drawing, it is on display at the Articulture Studio Z Fort Myers Tattoo shop. The shop is located at 1529 Lee Street. It is a state-of-the-art facility, and is unlike any other tattoo establishment in the entire state of Florida. It is highly regarded in the area, and in addition to high quality tattoos, they provide body piercing, logo design, airbrushing and custom artwork.

The interior of the shop is a lounge setting, complete with billiard tables and even special music performances from time to time. Its reputation is that of a shop where other tattoo artists would like to come to get their tattoos done.

Appointments may be made at Articulture Studio Z 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is to accommodate those that work odd times or night shifts. This is just one example of the first rate customer service they offer. It is a simple phone call to schedule an appointment for any hour of the day.

To take advantage of the All You Can Sit special and to be entered in the drawing for the 1950 Chevrolet Coupe, contact Articulture Studio at 239-232-1502 or 239-600-7145 and speak to a body art professional.

Art of Tea Pioneers the “8 Minute Digital Detox with Tea” Movement

Los Angeles, CA (May 1, 2013) Art of Tea is excited to introduce an inventive new initiative that invites its community to enjoy the centering properties of tea by tapping out of the digital world and tapping into themselves with tea as a grounding element. The premise behind the movement is that while most of us find ourselves embracing the convenience of our technological devices more and more, we are in turn losing a bit of ourselves in the process.

This movement, ironically driven through various social media channels via the hashtag, #8MINDIGITOX, is designed to empower and motivate others to take just 8 minutes out for themselves in the course of their busy workday to unplug and center themselves through ritual, thus creating the space for more productivity and focus throughout the day. The idea behind the number is that most working professionals have at least one 10 minute break throughout their day so devoting 8 minutes to focus inward shouldnt be much of a stretch. It also allows plenty of time to create a perfect pot of tea.

The inspiration for this comes from Art of Tea CEO/Founder, Steve Schwartz, who for years has relied on this methodology to find the perfect balance between being extremely hands-on with his company, being present with his family and finding time to center himself.

To help push the idea forward, Art of Tea has made available a wealth of supportive materials on its Facebook page (facebook.com/TheArtOfTea) to assist those who might need a little help getting started or are seeking to partner up in spreading the word about the movement. There are also a variety of social sharing portals available for those who would like to share their individual experiences, ideas and photos once they are plugged back in.

Art of Tea is located in Los Angeles, CA and is a leading importer and wholesaler of organic and specialty teas in North America. In addition to some of LAs finest resorts and restaurants, Art of Tea services hotels, cafes, spas and many other hot spots from the Hawaiian Islands to New York City, complete with staff training. Exploring the 5000 year old tradition of brewing loose leaf tea, Art of Tea hand blends and crafts all of its organic teas to order, sourced from the finest places around the world. Its carefully selected teas are sourced directly from growers, each offering a unique story behind its artful blends. When infused, the teas have a beautiful display as they blossom in front of your eyes.

Art of Tea has been the recipient of numerous awards for its unique tea infusions, having most recently received awards for its White Coconut Crme, Mint Brle and Amore tea creations.

NYC Community Chorus Launches Indiegogo Campaign For June 16 Production of Kurt Weill's "Lost in the Stars"--Four-Week Crowdfunding Effort Seeks to Raise $7,000

New York City Community Chorus (www.nycccha.org), a non-audition, non-sectarian chorus that welcomes anyone who wants to sing, announced today that it has launched a fund-raising campaign on Indiegogo to raise $7,000 for its June 16 production of Kurt Weill and Maxwell Anderson's emotionally gripping musical of pre-apartheid South Africa, "Lost in the Stars". The not-for-profit 19 year-old choral group, which performs in the City's Chelsea neighborhood, chose this online "crowdfunding" option to raise additional funds for their concert because anyone, from anywhere in the world can contribute, starting with donations as low as $10.

"The musical drama's message of redemption and understanding after prejudice and loss resonates in so many parts of the world today," said chorus founder and director Jack Eppler. "We believe that singers, fans of Weill, or of Alan Paton's Cry the Beloved Country from which Anderson adapted the musical's book, as well as those who champion human rights and understanding through the arts, in all corners of our City, country and the world, may want to contribute."

The concert features four remarkable artists in the starring roles--soprano Tiffany Jackson, bass Gregory Sheppard, baritone Anthony Turner, and actor Ronald Alexander Peet--accompanied by a 12-piece orchestra. "The chorus too, plays a starring role," said Eppler. "Our 60-member group, portraying villagers from the South African veld and the townspeople of Johannesburg, are the voice of the land itself."

Each Indiegogo contribution comes with a special "thank you" gift, ranging from a photo of the production for $20, to a DVD of the 1955 film "Cry the Beloved Country" starring James Earl Jones for $100, and dinner and music at the home of Jack Eppler for $500. Potential donors can visit 'http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/400008/emal/3167386'. The "Lost in the Stars" page offers information on the chorus and the production, and a video segment of a rehearsal, with star Anthony Turner and chorus members commenting on what the chorus, and "Lost in the Stars," signifies.

Chorusmaster Jack Eppler was the principal architect of the chorus, which was established in 1994 to provide a place in New York City where anyone who wanted to sing, could. Today, the chorus, led by Eppler and music director J. David Williams, is comprised of City residents from every neighborhood. and is supported by public donations and grants from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. "Lost in the Stars" will be performed on Saturday, June 16 at 4 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Apostles at 296 Ninth Avenue at 28th Street, New York, NY, 10001. Home Study Course, created by Paul P Wong, is a new emotional healing program that covers detailed instructions and step-by-step lessons about the art of neutrality. Besides, this course provides learners with recorded audios, which let them listen to the material frequently until they are comfortable with it. In addition, the author claimed that with this course, learners will get access to a live, private coaching session that lasts three hours. This session is where learners can achieve a different perspective of the art of neutrality, and begin studying components of Physical and Molecular Corrections Tele-Class part 2. After Paul P Wong released this new course, he has received a wide range of positive comments from his customers regarding their success with Home Study Course. As a result, the website HealthReviewCenter.com tested the new method and has completed a full review about it.

A full review of Home Study Course on the site Health review indicates that this program is designed by a skilled neutrality practitioner. He spent a lot of time researching about different healing arts such as Reiki, vortex healing, Qigong, matrix energetic, hypnotherapy, release technique, EFT, Yuen method, and Chinese medicine. This course walks learners through 3 levels: Fundamentals - Tele-Class I, Private Coaching - Case Study I, and Tele-Class II. Inside these three parts, learners discover the benefits as well as applications of the art of neutrality. They have to learn the principle of the midline, and perform exercises such as visualizing mental objects, standing pose, tongue exercise, and combined exercises, and more.

Brian Callen from the site HealthReviewCenter.com states that: This program provides learners with inner healing methods, and audios that help them treat their physical pains and emotional issues. Besides, this course gives learners all the fundamentals and the essentials that they need to apply the art of neutrality to themselves and their family and friends. In addition, this course contains a video library where learners with case studies come together with examples to improve their skills. Furthermore, recorded audios and videos are safe to download, and users can share them with other people who they love. Moreover, this program does not require users to have prior experience, so it is easy to use and follow.

Matilda the Musical is a popular musical play that was created and written by Dennis Kelly. Helping him was Tim Minchin who created the music and lyrics. This musical play is entirely based on the children's novel called Matilda written by Roald Dahl. The story of the book revolves around the articulate girl of five years of age who really loves to read. It is also about her overcoming the obstacles in her family and school and in helping her teacher to regain her life. The production of this play began when the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) tried it out in Stratford for 3 months running from November of 2010 until January of 2011 and it had its West End premiere on the 24th November 2011 and was shown at the Cambridge Theatre.

The Broadway production of this play was set to begin in April 2013. The play was the recipient of widespread and critical acclaim and box office popularity. Some of its accolades are the number of awards it garnered during the Olivier Awards in 2012 wherein it won seven awards including the Best New Musical." The seven awards it achieved were a record for the more than three and a half decade of Olivier Awards. Before that, the plays cast particularly Bertie Carvel won the Best Actor Award of the Theatre Awards as well as the Best Musical last October 2011. The following month, the play was the recipient of the Ned Sherrin Award and it was again for the Best Musical category as being included in the The Evening Standard Awards."

The RSC announced the Broadway production of Matilda the Musical on the 29th of February 2012 and the play opened to the public on April 11, 2013 and was held at the Shubert Theatre. The cast was spearheaded by Bertie Carvel who plays Miss Trunchbull, together with Ted Wilson and Lauren Ward. The role Matilda will be alternately played by Sophia Gennusa, Bailey Ryon, Milly Shapiro and Oona Laurenc and all of them are performing for the first time on Broadway.

Meijer Gardens Announces Acquisition of Major Work by Richard Serra

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is honored to announce the acquisition and permanent siting of a major piece by the eminent American sculptor, Richard Serra.

The sculpture, Equal Intervals, Equal Elevations, is a site-specific work and has been the focal point of significant research, furthering Fred Meijers vision and desire to build a collection of sculpture of international significance.

Meijer Gardens has long been committed to the opportunity to introduce a work by Richard Serra one of the most acclaimed and influential sculptors of our time to the collection, said Joseph Becherer, vice president and chief curator at Meijer Gardens.

Equal Intervals, Equal Elevations is composed of four large, weathering, forged-steel blocks placed at equal intervals in the hillside and valley in the very heart of the Sculpture Park.

Serra visited Meijer Gardens last fall to review the site and specifically place and orient each of the blocks in the landscape.

The sculpture is sited so that the four blocks are set on the same contour equal distance apart in an arc so as to frame the pond, explained Richard Serra.

According to the artist, placement of the four elements, and the relationship of the objects to the surrounding space, is critical to the work both physically and intellectually.

Far more than four measurable steel blocks, the work is about our perceptions of a space that, in this specific instance, is the entire hillside, described Becherer. Most works of sculpture are about the measureable object or the object in space, but Serra pushes the boundaries of sculpture to help the viewer perceive the entirety of space.

Equal Intervals, Equal Elevations will be unveiled on May 14th. A special open house will be held for media from 1-3 p.m. The site will be open for video and photography and Joseph Becherer will be available for interview.

The acquisition of Equal Intervals, Equal Elevations was made possible through the generosity of Fred and Lena Meijer. It was facilitated through Serras primary gallery, Gagosian Gallery.

It is always inspiring when an important work of art is permanently sited in a public context, said Larry Gagosian, owner and director of Gagosian Gallery. We have appreciated the thoughtfulness with which Meijer Gardens has approached the re-siting project and we feel that it has been a very successful experience.

About Richard Serra

Richard Serra (b. 1939, San Francisco, CA) expressed an interest in art from childhood. He went on to study literature at the University of California at Santa Barbara and later earned his M.F.A. at Yale University. To earn money for his education, he worked in local steel millsan experience that would greatly inform his future sculptural repertoire. Serras early work focused on an array of materials ranging from rubber to molten lead and the manipulation of those materials. Six major projects get 68m cash boost from HLF

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has announced initial support worth 68m for six major projects in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The projects include 9.1m for Silverstone, Northamptonshires home of British motor racing, including 446,000 development funding.

The British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) put together plans to showcase the worlds only race circuit that is owned by a not-for-profit organisation. Proposals include: housing the BRDCs extensive archive collection; recording oral histories from former competitors such as Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Stirling Moss and Lady Christabel Watson; and redeveloping the sites visitor entrance as a heritage hub.

Another attraction to benefit from the funding is HMS Caroline, the last surviving warship of the First World War fleet, in Belfasts Titanic Quarter. The HMS Caroline will receive 12.2m, including 845,600 development funding.

The warship will be transformed into a visitor attraction where people can learn more about 20th-century naval history. With a focus on its relationship to the people of Northern Ireland, it is set to become a key part of the Titanic Quarter development. The National Museum of the Royal Navy plans to complete the project in time for the Battle of Jutland centenary in 2016.

Alexandra Palace will receive 16.8m to restore historically significant areas including the BBC Studios and the Victorian Theatre, which will be re-opened to the public.

Auckland Castle will get 10m including 1m development funding. Sitting on the banks of the River Wear, the 800-year-old project will see the building fully restored and open to the public for the first time.

The HLF has allocated 10m to Aberdeen Art Gallery that will be redeveloped to create a world-class cultural centre, adding a new rooftop gallery.

Cornwall is to receive 9.8m support for a new Kresen Kernow archive centre that will bring together dispersed collections that document Cornwalls heritage. It is to be created in the heart of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, conserving historic brewery buildings in Redruth and providing improved storage, collections care and access, as well as exhibition spaces and a learning studio for schools and community groups.

Ansana Laguna Phuket Empowers Its Local Community Through Launch of the 'Angsana Youth Artist' Art Scholarship

Angsana Laguna Phuket reinforces its commitment to supporting the Phuket community with a key initiative that is aligned with Banyan Tree's Group Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) philosophy of "empowering people". Angsana Laguna Phuket has established the Angsana Youth Artist scholarship worth 200,000 THB, designed to support the next generation of creative thinkers and propel their careers by providing financial support to continue their education, enabling them to pursue creative opportunities in their chosen field.

The Angsana Youth Artist scholarship is divided into two scholarships for two selected students from Ratchapat Phuket University. Each scholarship will cover 9,000 THB for each semester throughout three continuous years, from the second year of university until graduation. Each student will also receive an approximate 46,000 THB for educational materials such as textbooks, stationery, and other relevant educational expenses.

The Angsana Youth Artist scholarship originated from a Charity Mural Project that was created to signify the opening of the resort in December 2011. The 14 sq.m. mural is made up of 350 tiles designed by renowned Australian artist Christopher Hogan who conducted art classes for young guests during the launch of Angsana Laguna Phuket's Tree House Kids Club. Each tile was a collaboration between Christopher Hogan and an individual Angsana guest who contributed towards the fund raising by participating in this activity. When combined, the individual tile created a unique collage in the distinctive purple hues of Angsana Laguna Phuket's colours. Guests and visitors were able to sign the finished tiles to leave their permanent marks on the resort. With their support, a total of 200,000 THB was raised and will be used towards the "Angsana Youth Artist" scholarship where Christopher Hogan will be the mentor of the two students during the three year scholarship. The students will have the opportunity to intern at Angsana Laguna Phuket when Christopher Hogan returns to the resort to teach art classes at Tree House Kids Club during each summer.

Mr. Jerry John, General Manager of Angsana Laguna Phuket explained "As a part of the Banyan Tree Group which has always had a strong CSR philosophy, we are very much committed to nurturing the youth. Our Seedlings programme strives to support underprivileged local children, and the "Angsana Youth Artist" scholarship forms an integral part of our endeavours to be agents of social and economic development by giving back to the community in which we operate.
